It all started in Denali National Park…

I sat on a lichen-covered rock, looking out over rolling green hills and jagged peaks. On the horizon, Denali stood exposed by the July sun, its snow-covered slopes cutting the deep blue sky. From that height, the landscape revealed itself in layers and textures no flat map could ever do justice.

I found myself wishing I could take that experience home with me. I wanted to capture the physical feeling of terrain: the peaks and valleys, colors and shadows that made a place unique.

That desire turned into months of experiments seeking to make a piece that felt like a slice of the earth itself. After plenty of failed prototypes and techniques, I finally made something that captured the same experience I had on that ridge in Alaska.

Every magnet is handmade.

While most souvenirs are mass-produced in some foreign factory, these are built one at a time with great care in Logan, Utah.

My process focuses on three things:

  • Tactile Finish: Each piece is sanded and finished to highlight the natural texture of the terrain, making it as much a tactile experience as a visual one.

  • Authentic Colors: Using precise paint ratios, I replicate the colors found in the terrain. This highlights geological processes that made the terrain.
  • Intentional Variation: Since I work by hand, no two pieces are identical. You might notice slight variations in the terrain, strength of colors, or the finish between pieces. These are the fingerprints of a manual process.
